# Things by Rothenhall

Things is a free, open source (MIT) editor for 3D plush characters that run in the browser. You pick a starting character, change its fur, face and outfit piece by piece, and boop it to watch it squish.

## What can I do with Things?

Open the studio at /studio. Start from one of 9 presets (Mallow, Plum, Mint, Tango, Pebble, Cosmo, Poppy, Dew and Truffle), edit the body, fur, face and outfit, try moods in the Motion tab, then export a PNG, a character file, or code to put the character in your own site.

## Is Things free?

Yes. Things is MIT licensed. There is no paid tier, no account and no telemetry. You can host it yourself.

## Can a character answer questions on my website?

Yes. The chat widget turns a character into a site assistant. A visitor asks a question in the character's speech bubble and it answers from your site's content. Questions it cannot answer are logged as content gaps. See the self-hosting guide.

## Who made Things?

Things is made by Rothenhall Partners (rothenhall.com) and is open source under the MIT license. The code is at github.com/Rothenhall/Things.
